Video Game Collection Development

Game Programming is in many ways much easier than starting a video game collection. All you really need is the right equipment. You don't need to know how to play, and you don't need to know about the games. You just set them up, and open the doors. If you project it, the teens will come! In this section we go over what will be needed to run a successful game day without spending a bundle on equipment.

Getting the equipment you need is going to be one of your biggest obstacles to running a successful game day. Different events require different things. For the most part you are going to need a projector and a game system. Once you have that, you can do quite a few different things. We'll help you figure out exactly what you need depending on what kind of gaming event you would like to run.

Basic Setup
If you just want to set up a video game and project it on a wall, here's where you get the basics. We also have suggestions for projector purchase, and cables.

Dance Pads, Bongos and Guitars!
Games like DDR and Guitar Hero require just a few more things than the projector, but it's pretty easy to add these thing to increase the variety of the games you have available. Here's where you'll find out more about that.

Multiple systems, lines and other issues
Here's what we have been doing and how we have been doing it. We have been getting more than 100 visitors to our game days the last couple of times. Find out what we are doing to draw the teens in droves!

Much of this equipment isn't cheap, but there are ways to get it cheaper, and we have some ideas for getting the money you need to run a successful gaming day without putting down too much money.

Used Equipment and Jobbers
Used stuff isn't so bad, and did you know places like B&T also sell video game equipment at a discount? Go here to find out more.

Staffing the events properly is as important as having the right equipment. You don't want to end up with a chaotic event where fights break out over who is next in line, and where the players are constantly changing the settings on the games so they have more lives and such. All you need to do to avoid these types of situations is the proper amount of supervision.

How to have the most order and fun at the same time!
Here's how we staff our events and how it works out for us. We also discuss what we would like to do better. Our trial and error is your benefit!
