What if on top of the fact that your brother just left and his girlfriend was making moves on you, and your dad was kind of girl crazy, and you felt like everything at school was a little strange, and everyone was making fun of the girlfriend of your brother and calling her your wife; what if then, you had a horn pop out of your head, and sometimes a robot? Well, thats what happens to Naota. Add to that a really odd factory shaped like a giant iron that sends up smoke the same time every day, and a town that just so happens to overlook really odd things that happen there all the time. Like strange 19 year old girls who ride Vespas and smash people on the head with their guitar. If youre thinking that this isn't your ordinary manga story, you'd be spot on. FLCL isnt for everyone, it's crazy, and it isn't very easy to figure out whats going on all the time. But the dialog is hilarious, and the characters are so out there. The artwork is disjointed, which adds to the idea that youre not supposed to be sure if this is reality, or a dream. If you don't mind trying to puzzle out what this manga is all about, or if you mind works like a mouse running through a maze with 50 different pieces of cheese in various places in it, then this manga is for you.
