Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

Nausicaä is the princess in the Valley of the Wind, a safe haven from the spores of the dangerous jungles that have taken over the planets surface. Some time long ago, mankind waged a violent war against each other. The destructive aftermath has created an environment where humans are not the dominant species on the planet. Nausicaä has the unique ability to communicate with the large insect like creatures that rule the forests. For humans to survive, it is up to Nausicaä to create a peaceful bond with these creatures, and lead the human race into a natural co-existence with the Flora and Fauna of the planet.
     If you have seen the movie you stopped short of what is an epic story by Miyazaki. The manga goes on much further than the movie does. The movie leaves off in the middle of Volume 2, and the Manga has all new adventures to tell about Nausicaä.
     The characters are very well drawn, and each panel of the manga is filled with details that you will be picking out for hours. This is a wonderful story about the delicate balance between man and nature, and you are sure to enjoy it.
